The Maidens

Hi! I am one of the maidens in the story The Widow and The Maidens. I think we work too hard and we never get any sleep! We killed the chicken because it was so annoying and we thought we could get some rest. But we were wrong. The widow wakes us up even more early! We do not like working  but we have to so we do not disrespect the widow. The widow is very nice to us but she is always working. She wants us to work all of the time and to never stop. We want to work hard to make the widow happy so maybe she would let us sleep. I think she should let us take a break. I hope we get some rest and sleep.

The satyr

Hello! I am a satyr. A satyr is a part man, horse and goat. I believed that the humans were silly and I was right! I had a friend who invited me over and he said his hands were cold so he blew on them. He said his breath warmed them. Then we were eating some soup. My friend blew on it and I was confused. So, I asked him why he was blowing and he said it was hot and his breath cools it. I was so confused! So then I asked him to leave because I would not allow some one to blow on something hot and something cold! I have never heard of anything like it! I might ask if any other person might do that because I might be wrong.  

The goose

Hello there! I am a goose that lays golden eggs. I help people in need. I once helped a poor man who was old and could not work. So, my fairy told him to take care of me and I would take care of him. Then he built me a wonderful nest and the next morning I layed one of my golden eggs. The man was elated and bought himself and I delicious bread to eat. But the man became greedy, and he wanted more and more. So he killed me! He wanted more eggs so he cut me up but I did not have any left. Then my fairy came and took me away. The man became poor again and he learned his lesson. I love to help people with their problems.

The Widow

Hi! I am a widow and I love working. My maidens killed my chicken so now I have to wake them up extra early in the morning so they will not sleep in. I love my maidens because they are such a big help when it comes to working. They never argue and they are always here with me. I hope they will always be here and are ready to work everyday. I also hope we get another chicken to wake us up in the morning. Our chicken was great. I think the maidens enjoyed their work. I hope they stay with me forver. I think they will. The maidens are the best workers. They are wonderful. Do you think they will always be the best and wonderful? I do! I know they will always work hard. They will always be great at working. My job is very important to me. I love working. I work hard every day. Some of the time I get tired of working when i feel sick. But most of the time I love to work with my maidens! I cannot wait to work the next day.
